			And beyond that, you need to be able to observe your cats eating and toileting habits to provide care for it. Renal failure in cats comes on fast and often the only outward symptoms are urine frequency and quality. If you let your cat roam, it could be too late to save it from renal failure by the time that you notice that it's ill.

			One thing that's halfway sad and halfway funny is when you search "cat hit by car in [location where roaming cats are the norm]" you'll see a lot of people talking about how dangerous their street is and how three of their cats have been hit by cars on the street, or two of their cats died in twenty four hours when they were both hit separately, and how there should be speedbumps or a law that requires motorists to stop and contact the police if they hit a cat. One of the stories I read about this featured a woman who wanted the speed limit of her street reduced; a councilmember noted that average speed on that street was under twenty miles an hour, in other words: already very slow.
